All Alone

Just Like You

Something Missing
The Numbers
Zig-Zag
2 out of 3
Just one of those days, when you need a little lift
The right one at the right time and ooh you make the switch
I’ve got 2 out of the 3 and that suits me just fine
I’ve dabbled in the third and it’s just a waste of time
Now some are gonna try to change the world
And some are gonna sell their soul
Just to give you that… throw away rock ‘n roll
So he said some things that he really didn’t mean
He drew the line then he crossed them all
So I had to look in between
Now I do it for myself, so I might be hard to please
You don’t give them what you think they want
You should give them what you think they need
And not that….throw away rock ‘n roll
Just throw it away now
And when it’s over you won’t remember, but diamonds are forever
If they’re putting on the pressure
And everything is not okay
You just wait for something better
Today is not the day
All Alone
All that energy wasted
Projected on people, places, that have nothing to do with you
And all I ever see are distractions
The things that get a reaction
And if not then, well someone’s gonna hear about it
We’re just people
Not greater than or lesser than but equal
If it’s perfection you’re looking for
Well that’s an island that you build for yourself and stay there
If it’s perfection you’re looking for
Well that’s an island that you build for yourself and play there
All alone
Don’t blame this city
I know it brings you down
It spits them out
It’s a hustle town but everybody loves the sunshine
Well you fight it but I think you’re just afraid you’re gonna like it
An Apology
Light years away, dark days ahead
Diving in to the unknown
Crawling out of bed
Holding out my hand, holding up my head
The things I didn’t notice, when it was all around me
Rose coloured blinders
The signs I never read
The times I didn’t listen to all the things you said
An apology for all the days of throwing lives (lies) around, so effortlessly
While you were barely breathing
An apology for all the days of throwing lives around, so effortlessly
That was me forever dreaming
Now I see
(Now I’m free)
A memory selective, my tunnel vision
With time to weigh the options
Another snap decision
But I thought it was what you wanted so I decided for you
The laws of motion, the things you just can’t see
It only takes a small shift
Even just one degree
But it’s better to say something then to just let it be
Well you can take your frustrations out in me
An explanation too involved
A twist of fate, the problem solved
I kept my distance, gave it time, then I made the call
From light years away
Days
When it’s full we drink it up
And throw it away like a paper cup
Just give me more ‘cause it’s never enough, never enough
This very day is the bird in hand
My mind is racing and the scheme is grand
And things don’t always go as planned, go as planned
Yesterday doesn’t remember me
And today’s a day that wants to break free
So tomorrow just hear me out
‘Cause I’m calling, I’m calling out
The tease, the dance, the slow undressing
The hanging by a thread to keep me guessing
I’m waiting for it to fall
If all you do is give and give you might lose it all
And once it starts it’s hard to stop
The raging bull, the china shop
I feel the pull so I hold on tight
I hold on for dear life
Some days I sleep ‘till the afternoon
Some days I speak of some day soon
Sometimes I feel so out of touch and out of tune
Get By
These have got to be the leanest days I’ve ever seen
But days to reflect upon
To look back on and laugh, perfecting my craft
It’s all there but the money’s gone
I should be wishing for a holiday
I should be criss-crossing the city by car
I should be reaching for the keys instead, I’m reaching for the bottom of a penny jar
And I want to get it on
These are the days of endless creativity
‘Cause it’s too cold to go outside
And this is the year with the endless February
What a difference a day makes in my mind
I should be wishing for a holiday
I should be wishing I could put down the phone
I should be tipping a glass with the movers and shakers
But it’s Chamomile tea in my bedroom all alone
And I want to get it on….
I want to get it on….
And I try, but I just get by
This is a time for swallowing pride
A time for cashing in favours
Hoping those to my left, and those to my right
Truly do love their neighbour
Just Like You
You would dance around and sing, if the moment moved you to
In a public place, in the afternoon
A close encounter with a stranger, just because it turned you on
And then you’d be at piece with yourself, when the moments gone
And they’ll shake their heads
And they’ll disapprove
But they want to be, they want to be just like you
You’ re a wild child, crying to be free
You are California, about to crash into the sea
And if the sky falls, and a lightening bolt strikes you down
And you never see another day
Well the moment’s yours and nothing can take it away
Responsible
I know you’ re out there somewhere
I know you’ re having fun
Somewhere between the moon and the morning sun
And I know you have no worries
A thought without a care
But we make choices and all is fair
But there’ s so much to do and it might never get done
Why must I always be the responsible one?
And there’ s so little time left, a new day has begun
Just leave it up to me, the responsible one
Well they say you put it out there, and it comes back multiplied
From somewhere between reality and the other side
Now I don’t take that lightly, and I really hope they’ re right
‘Cause there are places I would rather be than here tonight
And I may not make a big scene
And I may not make a big sound
But when you snap out of your big dream
I may not be around
And I might just cut it clean, and set my feet on shaky ground
You better snap out of your big dream
‘Cause I just might let you down
Rocket Science
One chord, one word, one note
Leaves a lump in your throat
Two people, two hearts, like minds
With time on their side
You can figure it out
‘Cause it’s not rocket science
A need, the means, the deed
And now no more tears
Put it out there but don’t keep track
Just make it good
It’ll all come back to you
We go all out in space when all the while it’s right in front of our faces
Get so bent out of shape when all the while it’s right in front of our faces
When you had it you should have known it
It watched you blow it
And now it’s gone and it’s too late
You’ll make stupid mistakes
‘Til someone sharper comes along
Something Missing
It’s my world you just don’t know it yet
I think it’s time, I think it’s time
See them flash across my TV set
They’ll blow your mind, they’ll blow your mind
When ignorance prevails and all else fails
It gets so put on and played out, plastic and processed
You can’t get off, there’s something missing
So put on and played out and you don’t even know it
You can’t get off there’s something missing
Once I’m under there’s no turning back
I think it’s time, I think it’s time
All it takes is just a hair-line crack
To blow it wide , to blow it wide‘Cause sometimes the real thing’s so hard to find
The Numbers
There’s nothing new under the sun now
But not to worry ‘cause we’ll make it somehow
‘Cause it’s never enough
Rushing in, running out of empty spaces
The times get tough but we can take it
‘Cause we’re made of the same stuff
Making the numbers, we’re doing the business
And watching it go down
We’re making the numbers, and doing the business
And watching the world go ‘ round and ‘ round
Smooth and silent, the gears are greasy
They spin so fast that you feel uneasy
And spit you out all squeaky clean
Throw a dirty monkey wrench inside the big machine
With all of his forces and all of his men
But will it ever be the same again?…..No
Will it ever be the same again?…..No, no, no
We’re making the numbers
We’re keeping it steady
Making the numbers
We’re doing it on time
Zigzag
Everybody’s right and everybody’s wrong
But I knew what I wanted all along
Make it plain so plain it shows and you act like you don’t know
But I know that you know, and I know you know that I know that you know
Well we’ll speak like politicians, and slide like skin on grease
And we’ll try to keep our distance, but we only get six degrees
And if I move in a straight line, and worlds collide
Then I’ll just zigzag to the other side
Warm is the pain and cool is the shock
Safe is the way and smooth is the talk
Well some lose their way when the way gets blocked and some of us know better
And I know that you know , and I know you know that I know that you know
Well we’ll change like the weather and then brake like all things I time
You see ‘cause nothing lasts forever and I try to keep that in mind
And if I move in a straight line and worlds collide
Then I’ll just zigzag to the other side
